Cobra Golf Selects Nippon Shaft As Stock Steel Shaft For New King Cobra SZ Irons |
|
Sunday, 29 March 2009 |
Cobra Golf has selected Nippon Shaft to provide stock steel shafts for its new King Cobra SZ irons, which recently received a "Gold" rating on Golf Digest's prestigious annual equipment "Hot List," Nippon Shaft officials said. Cobra will stock Nippon Shaft's lightweight N.S. Pro 1030 - which weighs a mere 103 grams - in the King Cobra SZ iron, officials said. Benefits of the shaft are its combination of light weight and stability. Lighter weight can help players increase swing speed and, as a result, hit the ball farther, while the unique stability factor in Nippon Shaft steel helps players hit the ball more accurately. "We are very excited that Cobra Golf has decided to utilize the N.S. Pro 1030 as the stock steel shaft in its King Cobra SZ irons," said Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft USA. "Nippon Shaft is very proud of its relationship with Cobra, whose products represent the cutting edge of technology. The combination of Cobra's advanced technology and unique design combined with Nippon Shaft's premium lightweight steel shafts can make a positive difference in how golfers at all levels practice and play." Cobra first utilized Nippon Shaft as a stock steel shaft product in 2005. "Cobra Golf selected Nippon Shaft for its King Cobra SZ irons because of the company's consistent high quality and performance," said Brian Zender, general manager of Cobra Golf. Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia with more than 80 percent of the market and ranks No. 2 in North America. Currently, more than 100 touring professionals worldwide use Nippon Shaft products, resulting in more than 50 victories in the last four years, Fukuda said. Nippon Shaft is a subsidiary of privately held NHK, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer based in Yokohama, Japan. Nippon Shaft's North American headquarters is in Schaumburg, Illinois. |

Cobra Golf Introduces New 2009 King Cobra SZ Irons |
|
Thursday, 19 March 2009 |
Low-profile clubheads designed for high-profile shots. The new King Cobra SZ Iron (head view). Cobra Golf unveils technologically advanced tools for game improvement in the new 2009 King Cobra SZ Irons, or "Sweet Zone" Irons. The irons' low-and-wide design is defined by key components: Their sleek, low-profile clubhead design and shortened hosel result in a low-and-back Center of Gravity (CG), while a wide sole and heel-toe weighting system helps achieve maximum Moment of Inertia (MOI). These attributes create forgiving irons that help golfers launch the ball higher and achieve pinpoint accuracy on their shots. "The SZ iron offers patented technology and winning performance at an affordable price," said Brian Zender, General Manager for Cobra Golf. "The SZ is an award winner prior to our March launch and has impressed test panels with golfers of various abilities for its high trajectory, forgiveness, distance and feel." The irons feature a best-of-all-worlds approach, when it comes to design features. "The SZ is designed from the ground up to deliver maximum forgiveness, consistency, and feel," said Tom Preece, Vice-President of Cobra Club Research and Development. "The wide sole, low profile, offset clubhead design creates a low-back CG location for high, draw-bias trajectory. The heel-toe perimeter weighting increases inertia for maximum clubhead stability on off-center hits. Plus the SZ features a unique patent-pending sole design which keeps the clubhead centered and stable both at address and through contact. The SZ performance design is coupled with a urethane insert, layered across the back side of the entire face, which dampens unwanted vibration and gives great feel." |
